Nabídka volitelných předmětů String Band Seminar a String Band Ensemble

Milí studenti,
Fakulta humanitních studií vám nabízí možnost zapsat si jako volitelný předmět dva kurzy, které u nich povede v letním semestru Dr. Lee Bidgood z East Tennessee University, kde vyučuje především etnomuzikologii a old-time music.
Jedná se o předměty String Band Seminar a String Band Ensemble. První je více teoretický, druhý praktický.
Bližší informace o učiteli naleznete na adrese

Informace o předmětech přikládám v originálním anglickém znění:

1)
YBA 323 – “Between Local and Global: String Band Seminar” – 3 Credits
Aula 1034, přízemí – Jinonice – budova B, U Kříže 8, Praha 5 – Pondělí 17:00
A multi-disciplinary and international examination of the string band as a musical means for mediating between the global and the local. Case studies might include bluegrass and old
time, Latin American norteno/frontera, son jarocho, Indonesian kroncong, afropop, various representations of Central European music, and versions of “European/Western Art
Music.”

This course emerges from the instructor’s conviction that music making (or “musicking” per Christopher Small) is inevitably about people and their relationships, not only those produced in sound. No formal musical experience necessary. Participation in the related String Band Ensemble recommended.
2)
YBA 324 – “Between Local and Global: String Band Ensemble” – 2 Credits
Aula 1034, přízemí – Jinonice – budova B, U Kříže 8, Praha 5 – Pondělí 18:30
A practicum ”lab” ensemble accompanying the String Band Seminar. We will learn and perform material from various global string band practices, corresponding to those covered in the “Seminar” course. We will meet for weekly rehearsals and for 2-3 “listening evening” lab performances through the semester.
