At the Charles University Education Faculty in Prague, research activities on the theme of the development of digital competences among children and the role of basic schools in the process of building digital literacy have been carried out as part of a GACR overall project. The target group of a research consisted of teachers of information subjects at basic schools in the Czech Republic and their pupils. The main aim of the project was to ascertain the present state, structure and orientation of children’s digital competences from the perspective of the curricular, processual and organisational aspects of building their digital literacy. The relevant research data was gathered using applied research methods from 1183 teachers of information subjects, representing individual basic schools, and 2173 pupils from 112 basic schools. The article presents selected results of the research project.
