The teaching profession provides an opportunity for intergenerational socio-professional mobility. This is applicable to recent student teachers of the first level of basic schol, although it is not a reason for assumint that this profession was chosen as a mere substitute for another career path. A combination of a wish to educate themselves and a lack of ambition account for the predominance of female applicants for this branch of education and what is worse, they do not appreciate that they are nurturing the seeds of a future civil society. Neverheless, the social and professional wherewithal of new teachers is balanced. Not only the education system, but also the intergenerational mobility can play a part.
