It explains different approaches in defining the scope of both disciplines. A brief survey of the history of comparative education in Czechoslovakia is followed by an analytical evaluation of its production. The sample of 308 publications by Czechoslovak authors in comparative and international education has been subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis. Four levels of analysis have been differentiated concerning (1) the content, (2) methodological approach, (3) thematic focus and (4) territorial relatedness of publications. The most relevant data are presented in Tables 1-2. Conclusions based on quantitative analysis are derived concerning the profile and trends in Czechoslovak comparative and international education.
