The article deals with the theme of aequisition of a foreign language among pupils with specific learning disorders (SLD). As experience from abroad suggests, the manifestations of specific learning disorders in the proces of aequisition of a second language are not confined to problems with reading, but affect the phonological, syntactic and semantic level of the second language.
The purpose of the research project presented in this páper was to deseribe the process of aequisition of the indivi-dual levels of the second language by pupils with SLD using M. Malíková's Pro-gnostic-Diagnostic Test of Foreign-Language Abilities, and to identify the main difficulties of these pupils in comparison with a control group of normál pupils. The research sample was composed of 26 children with SLD and 26 fellow pu-pils from six 4th-Forms of three primary schools in Prague. Qualitative analysis of performances in individual subtests showed striking differences in the performances of pupils with SLD in tasks mea-suring the level of foreign-language skills on the basis of processing an auditive stimulus. On the basis of the data gathered the páper indicates the need for reevaluation of some current methods of work with pupils with SLD in foreign language classes and outlines new possibilities of intervention.
