Development of foreign language literacy
\nJournal Gramotnost, pregramotnost a vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed is preparing an English monothematic issue focusing on the development of foreign language literacy.<\/p>\n

Current concept of language learning and teaching highlights the development of communicative competence. In particular, it aims to foster the development of abilities that enable students not only to understand a message, analyze it and critically evaluate its content, but also express himself or herself and formulate his or her opinions. Therefore, for adequate communication in a foreign language it is necessary that the learning process is complex and encompasses all four language skills listening and reading comprehension, oral and written expression.<\/p>\n

The monothematic issue of Gramotnost, pregramotnost a vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed targets works addressing the development of communicative competence as a goal of foreign language education from the perspective of both the teacher and the pupil. In the centre of our interest there are papers dealing with the literacy skill of reading. Research, comparative and review studies dealing with the development of socio-cultural and intercultural competence are also welcomed.<\/p>\n

P\u0159ed\u0161koln\u00ed vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed m\u00e1 pro \u017eivot d\u00edt\u011bte nedoceniteln\u00fd v\u00fdznam, nebo\u0165 ran\u00e9 zku\u0161enosti d\u00edt\u011bte maj\u00ed trvalou hodnotu pro jeho budouc\u00ed \u017eivot. Jedn\u00edm z\u00a0hlavn\u00edch c\u00edl\u016f p\u0159ed\u0161koln\u00edho vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed je vytv\u00e1\u0159et dobr\u00e9 p\u0159edpoklady pro celo\u017eivotn\u00ed vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed, co\u017e nezbytn\u011b vede k\u00a0nutnosti pokl\u00e1dat dobr\u00e9 z\u00e1klady pro rozvoj budouc\u00edch gramotnost\u00ed a s\u00a0t\u00edm souvisej\u00edc\u00ed rozvoj p\u0159edpoklad\u016f pro jejich osvojov\u00e1n\u00ed.<\/p>\n

V\u00a0posledn\u00edch letech se v\u00a0\u010cesk\u00e9 republice objevuj\u00ed projekty zam\u011b\u0159en\u00e9 na rozvoj pregramotnost\u00ed d\u011bt\u00ed p\u0159ed\u0161koln\u00edho v\u011bku, jejich\u017e c\u00edlem je zkvalitnit p\u0159\u00edpravu u\u010ditel\u016f i p\u0159ed\u0161koln\u00ed vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed jako takov\u00e9, a to zejm\u00e9na v\u00a0oblasti \u010dten\u00e1\u0159sk\u00e9, matematick\u00e9 a p\u0159\u00edrodov\u011bdn\u00e9 gramotnosti. Monotematick\u00e9\u00a0\u010d\u00edslo\u00a0\u010dasopisu\u00a0Gramotnost\u00a0c\u00edl\u00ed\u00a0p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm\u00a0na odborn\u00e9\u00a0pr\u00e1ce\u00a0t\u00fdkaj\u00edc\u00ed\u00a0se\u00a0v\u00fd\u0161e\u00a0uveden\u00fdch\u00a0t\u00e9mat,\u00a0ale\u00a0tak\u00e9\u00a0na srovn\u00e1vac\u00ed\u00a0a p\u0159ehledov\u00e9\u00a0studie.<\/p>\n

The Journal of literacy, pre-literacy and education is preparing a monothematic issue focusing on school education, family influence and its relation to literacy. The aim is to analyze a broad spectrum of factors impacting development of key learning skills which can increase effectiveness of school education. Sociocultural and family background and their influence on education are long term phenomena in psychological, educational, and sociological research. Some foreign publications in particular bring comparisons of a child’s family environment and its school performance. In today’s globalized society the importance of observation and analysis of the mentioned factors increases, with the objective to identify potential risk areas and search for their overcoming. In the Czech republic projects concentrating on literacy development both in school and family environment, working with children from disadvantaged and excluded areas have been occurring ever more frequently in recent years.
