The main objective of the Department of Education at the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague is to prepare teachers and educators for all types of lower and higher secondary schools.\u00a0The structure of study programmes follows the European Union\u2019s Bologna Declaration, studies are divided into a 3-year B.A. programme (180 ECTS) and a 2-year M.A. programme (120 ECTS). Graduates of the M.A. programme achieve fully-qualified status as teachers. Our department guarantees general educational preparation for students in almost all study programs offered by the Faculty of Education.<\/p>\n
The Department of Education, respectively, offers study programs in Pedagogy (B.A., M.A.), Health Education (B.A., M.A.), Leasure Time Education (B.A.) and Vocational Training (B.A.). Pedagogy and Health Education can be studied in combination with another Humanities, Sciences or Arts subject. The department is strongly involved in teachers\u00b4 Life Long Learning and Continuous Professional Development programmes.<\/p>\n

The main research focus lies within the fields of social pedagogy and teaching profession.
