In this paper the author deals with some basic questions of the problems involved in the rational management of the educational process. The relationship between teacher and pupil (or class) is characterized and studied as a relationship between the managing and the managed component of an open, relatively isolated information system. In the introductory part the author deals first with some questions concerning the analysis of the structure of the educational process, and then with questions concerning the description of changes in the state of an arbitrary active element of the system (definition and description of the state, the course of changes of the state with regard to time, transition, transitionary process, trajectory of changes of the state) and the problems of defining the manner of its activity. In another part of his paper the author goes on to characterize the substance (and gives a mathematical and logical model) of the dynamic programming of the process of managing the educational process under the conditions of so-called indefiniteness, i. e. management on the basis of the actual (not the anticipated) course of changes of the state of the managed component of the system, on the basis of regressive information about the result of the influence of the managing component on the managed component of the system. On the basis of an analysis of the structure of the management process and an analysis of the factors determining the character of the course of the management process, the author draws some conclusions for educations practice. The basic pre-requisites of a rational management of the educational process are to be seen in a scientifically substantiated definition of the aim of the management process, in defining the initial state of the managed component of the system, in defining the content, the extent≫ the methods and means of the managing component’s influence on the managed component of the system, and in defining the methods and means of getting back the information about the result of the managing component’s influence of the managed component of the system.
