The paper describes the course and results of a survey that used a non-standardised questionnaire to determine the extent of the use of addictive substances among children at Basic School. The data obtained arc also intepreted with an eye to the results of an earlier survey conducted in 1996. The second part of the text compares the group of children who have experience with drugs with those who do not. This made it possible to identify which selected characteristics are related to drug use. The x2 of independence was used as test criterion for verification of results.
