The authors tried to contribute to the solution of the problem concerning the importance and the role of personality trails with respect to the goals of education. What kind of personality traits are important? To what extent they are dependent on the family upbringing? Thirty psychologists judged the Cattell's dimensions with respect to the ways of coping with everyday life, ethic questions and personality growth. The same observers plus another thirty workers specialised in business were deciding what kind of personality dimensions involved required one of extreme zones and where would be better to use the middle zone of dimension. The sample of seventeen years old boys and girls (the total number was 1404) filled in the Cattell's questionnaire HSPQ as well as the questionnaire related to the ways of family upbringing drafted by the authors. On the basis of the data received it was possible to summarise the styles of family upbringing that support the development of such personality dimensions which proved to be important from the given points of view as well as to find out the unsuitable forms of education. The results are preliminary and the authors present the suggestions for the next treatment with respect to the psychological aspects of the goals of education.
