This contribution, which makes reference to the results of research into the relationship between Basic Schools and the family in the first half of the nineties, is divided into two parts. The first part attempts to illuminate these relationships in the basic social and economic context, which in our opinion directly influences their form and dynamism. It goes to look at the changing situation of schools and families in the present day. The second part wil be published in the next edition of PEDAGOGICA.
