This study focuses on specific teacher’s approach to pupil’s mistake in creative and expressive education, especially in art education. The author characterizes peculiarities of mistakes in this type of education. Me distinguishes and defines two sorts of the mistakes: (1) normative mistake, (2) creative mistake. Normative mistake is described as a divergence from coventional or prescriptive standard. On the contrary, creative mistake is unfitting application of the norm in a new, unusual context. The author analyzes problem of creative and normative mistakes in art education. He describes so called "evaluation paradox” in art education as an antagonism of the norm and getting over it. Theoretical presumptions are verified by research. The research is aimed to teacher’s assesment of pupil’s art production in art education.
