The ideas of J. A. Comenius have been known in England since the beginning of the 30's of the 17th century. In spite of the fact that due to the outbreak of the English Puritan revolutinon, Comenius could stay in England only for a very short time, his ideas were reflected, directly or indirectly, in the works ofsome English reform writers and educationalists, e. g. S. Hartlib, J. Dury, Ch. Iloole, J. Hall, J. Harrington, W. Petty, et al., who set down the main principles of the intended English School reform and formulated the educational programmes for England of that revolutionary period.
