After the Velvet Revolution the system of education started to change - both from "down" at "above". Some reform designes were put forward, those having been elaborated both by experts and by teachers or some teachers' associations, by the Ministery of Education, Youth and Physical Training. No censensus has been achieved so far, and the programme is the object of a further discussion.
In the article some key alternatives of the schools policy are being analyzed: the role of education in the society as derived or independent and initiative, equality and quality od education, the role of the State in the education, and thus a clash in the interests of the centralistic and liberal tendecies in the administration and management of the schools. The analysis resulted in a survey of the designed principles of the educational policy.
