The article deals with actual questions of changes in our model of the secondary general school. Some tendencies leading to actual problems of this type of school are identified in development and chances pf its model. The character an reasons of its functional deficiency is analysed next. A comparision with foreign models is supposed to be a starting point of changes. Types of models and progressive trends of their development are analysed there. Conclusions and recommandations warn againt the rash centralistic reform and the stress is put on experiments and looking for alternatives.
