The essay informs about the contemporary school and guidance psychology in France. This branch of psychology has had a long and progressive tradition in France. The origin and development is connected with the names of marxist psychologists such as Lahy, Wallon, Naville, and at our time with the group GFEN (the French group for a new education).
In the introduction the author presents the historical conditions of the origin of the psychological guidance structure in connection with the development and reforms of the school system. (From the dualist one to the so called comprehensive line).
Further on the essay deals with the contemporary structure (which has been in existence in this form since the year 1971) of the school psychology (the centre GAPP) and following up the psychology of guidance (the centre CIO) which above all aims at the professional orientation. It informs in detail about differences in the work of both forms of psychology of guidance and the perspectives of the work of psychologists. The author draws the readers’ attention to some non-traditional forms of work of the psychology of guidance in the so called priorit educational zones (mixed teams, action zones etc).
