In a developed Socialist society all socialgroups are being drawn into active participation in the natural law-governed process of fulfilling the historical role of the working class. This is also the starting point for analysing collectivism in the training of undergraduates. Stress is laid on the specificity of higher education, i. e. on theoretical training and on demonstrating how strongly collectivism makes itself felt just in this kind of activity.
This article uses the results of various empirical findings, and also makes use of some practical experiences of the functionaries’ team of the Socialist Union of Youth. The collectivist tendencies among students coming from working-class families are underlined here, and mese are also reflected in the interpretation of specialist professional knowledge in connection with the fulfilment of the historical role of the working class. This feature must be pointed out as an important factor in making collectivism penetrate into the the ranks of the other students, especially if educational work makes use of the influence of students with workingclass background on students’ collectives.
To sum up the problem of collectivism in the training of undergraduates with all that it involves, it is necessary to say that political consciousness was understood as an expression and means of the specific development and promotion of collectivism. Tnis means tnat we based our support on political consciousness, professional knowledge and skill, theory and practice as being the reflection of a united social movement whose material base is the development of productive forces on the basis of the soci^ist relations of production as a reflection of the natural lawgoverned process in which collectivism is pushing its way.
