One of the important and hitherto little studied sections of didactics is the didactic of the teaching text (henceforward DTT), which can be defined as the theory and practice of the analysis, creation and use of the teaching text in the educational process. The article contains some briefly formulated remarks and questions relating to the problems of the teaching text: on the textbook's function in the pupil's and the teacher's work, contemporary problems of the theory of textbook making, the methodological and theoretical starting points of the DTT.
Taken as a whole, these remarks determine, both directly and indirectly, the current psychologico-pedagogical problems of the teaching text, widi research into comprehension of the teaching text and experimental investigation of its difficulty being considered as the primary problem.
Present-day approaches to the research into comprehension of the teaching text also proceed from the possibility of describing this human activity by means of computer programmes. However, development of such researches in Czechoslovakia requires the setting up of a joint computer laboratory of the workplaces concerned, and this laboratory would have to be equipped with an efficient interactive computer with rich provision for programmes orientated to processing numerical and non-numerical data in a dialogue régime including a terminal interactive network using the state telephone network.
