The teacher’s personality has always been in the forefront of the Socialist society’s interest Therefore all State and Party documents concerning our educational system have always emphasised the personality of the teacher from the professional, ideologico-political and moral aspect Part of these efforts has been the endeavour to give higher education to teachers, even to those at the lowest grade of schools. From the end of the 19th century a vain struggle was waged in our country for this type of education, its significance being constantly stressed by Zdeněk Nejedlý and Otokar Chlup. It was only after World War II that, thanks to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, all teacher were given the opportunity to obtain complete higher education. Proper attention is therefore paid to this problem in the new project of the educational system. It underlines the professional, pedagogical and ideologico-political profile of the teacher and points out the presumptions of its further development in the process of the teaching practice and further theoretical education.
