The article shows that under certain preconditions and by means of Shannon’s formula is possible quantitatively to investigate the vagueness of pupils’ knowledge of a given object „ 0 “ from probability changes (relative frequencies) in pupils’ answers to questions in a test. The article goes on to analyse some consequences of the transmission of knowledge between teacher and pupil in the classroom being looked upon as a process of the transfer of information. This conception appears to lead to a simple solution of a number of didactic questions.
