Annotation:
The periodical ≫Tvorba≪ appeared as a weekly for literature, politics and the fine arts. From 1928 it was owned by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. Until 1938 its editor-in-chief was Julius Fučik. This periodical played a significant part in promoting the Communist Party’s policy and its world scientific outlook, especially in furthering its cultural policy. Various fields of science and art (e. g. philosophy, literary history) have in recent years been making use of the ≫Tvorba ≪ articles dealing with topics they are Interested in. However, the articles and reports that have not been made use of so far are those dealing with questions of education and schools in Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union and other states, which illustrate the close relationship between pedagogy and politics. That is why the History of Czech Pedagogy author has compiled their bibliography. In her study she has focused her attention on the history of Czech pedagogy. Her study of materials aims at contributing to the knowledge of how Marxist thinking in pedagogy developed in the bourgeois republic. The respective articles are divided according to the topics they deal with into the following groups: Czech and Slovak education, teachers, education of proletarian children, reviews of original Czech pedagogical literature. As the periodical ≫Tvorba≪ holds a prominent place in left-wing and Communist press in the period between the two world wars, its pedagogical articles can be of use in the preparatory work on the history of Czech pedagogy and in collecting materials for the history of the Czech and Slovak teaching profession.
