Ad: KUŘINA, F. What is didactics really? Pedagogika, 2005, 55, no. 4, pp. 264-267. In every country where teacher training is provided at universities, the question of the legitimacy of didactics as a science with demonstrable results has been coming to the fore. In this context the authors discuss the problem of the relations between the theory and school practice of subject didactics in response to Kufina‘s concept of didactics as „the creation of the school“. The authors argue that the „creation of the school“ happens through concrete curricular documentstexts, which in terms of theme relate on the one hand to the field of educational theory and psychology, and on the other to the individual subjects in the arts and sciences that are taught at the school. The authors deduce from this that the facts with which didactics is concerned in its theories and specific studies have a two-dimensional character. On the basis of analysis of the two-dimensional character of the fact in subject didactics and with appeal to Shulmann‘s concept of „pedagogical content knowledge“, the authors characterise the subject of research in subject didactics as the pedagogically justifiable structure of the relations between four observable points: (I) the subject fact in science or art, (II) the fact of the pedagogic behaviour of the teacher, (III) the fact of the educational performance of the pupil, (IV) the real state of the cultural and social context (ethical, economic, political, aesthetic etc.). From an analysis of the relations between the main elements of this structure the authors derive a categorisation of key angles that need to be considered in subject didactics: (ad III « D Didactics as the study of the ontogenesis of subject thinking, (ad II « III) Didactics as the study of educational process and as a theory of teaching, (ad I « II) Didactics as the epistemological analysis of a subject, (ad I « IV) Didactics as the study of the relations between subject education and the social environment.
