The article Creating Foreign Language Standard in Technically-Oriented Universities deals with the construction of a flexible standard for world languages based on the application of European criteria for language education, formulated in a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (2001) and in the European Language Portfolio, to language for academic and technical purposes. National and international comparability can be seen in the standard expected outcomes compatible with standardised European descriptors and the Framework Bl level of achievement. The process of referring to European criteria for language education and their application to language for academic and specific purposes supports comparability rather than identity, allowing for variation, yet following common principles. This concept is suitable not only for the Czech Republic but also in the wider European context.
