(EN) School and the rational civilization

The article outlines various problems which the educational system is facing in contemporary Latvia in connection with the transformation of the society to the market economics and the restoration of the national identity. It shows the complexity of this process in the country which lost the continuity of its own intellectual development. The author worked with results of tests realized in some Latvian schools.
