Main ideas of the recommendations presented to the Czech Ministry of Education by the experts from the Faculty of Education, Charles University - Prague 20. 9. 1991.
The general aims and importance of school in modern society is described. The notion of knowledge is disscused on the base of methodological crisis of the contemporary sciences searching for a new paradigm. The present situation of the Czech school is evaluated in order to trace its progress in the time of entering Czechoslovakia in to the European community. Main steps of reforming movement (short time centrally ordered reform being rejected) are outlined and the architecture of the school system is proposed. Problems od education and both social role and prestige of teachers are described. Some of the main issues in economy and social needs are briefly mentioned.
