The study is a component of the output from a scientific and research task “The Unity of the Theory and Practice in the Teachers’ Preparation.” It deals with following the model fo the practical preparation of the basic and “burgher” school teachers by the year 1939. The preparation of the teachers of those categories was realized at the secondary schools which were called “Teachers’ Training Institutions”. Here the future teachers prepared themselves for the instruction in the school-subjects, studied pedagogics and psychology as well as special didactics.
The practice took place at the training school attached to those institutions, and was joined closely to the instruction given in the special didactics. The practice itself was differenciated innerly into certain forms which made a grading systemranking from visits to classrooms and supervision in the forms to different kinds of always more demanding practicants’ performances on their own. In many aspects this system is stimulating even for the contemporary reflections about the concept and organization of the educational practice.
In the study also the literature of the 1920s and 30s is being evaluated, this literature having been implemented directly in the educational practice-and the teachers’ profession altogether.
