(EN) The Place and Role of Television in the Teaching Process

The author judges the interaction of teacher-pupils-didactic technology in the conditions of educational TV. The problems involved are studied both theoretically and experimentally on a model of educational TV designed for the elementary school. Dealing with the concept of educational TV the author underlines the pedagogical and psychological viewpoints, the technical viewpoints being secondary. What takes place in the teaching process under the conditions of the proposed model of educational TV is a division of educational work between the teacher and the educational TV programme, with the teacher performing specifically human functions, the routine functions being assigned to the TV programme. Experiments have confirmed that the division of work between teacher and TV programme contains a potential contribution towards improving the quality of the teacher’s control work. The teacher is partly freed from the burden of constantly communicating information and can devote more time to an indirective manner of controlling the teaching process.
In conclusion, the author draws attention to the ethical pathos contained in the work of educationists and psychologists, which is even more emphasised by the scientific and technological progress.
