(EN) The Influence of Mass Media on Education

The mass media enable the society to
penetrate the education in the family, at school, to influence the amount of leisure time and the w ay it is spent. The press, radio and television com plem ent and influence one another, which enables them to take advantage of their different means of expression in their educational activities, too. While their influence covers all the areas of human life, their significance for education consists especially in their objectivity, mass character, widespread appeal and participation in man’s everyday life. In purposeful education in the family, at school and in extraclass education special care must be taken for mass media not to fill all one’s leisure time, for their content to correspond to the age and interests of children and young people and for the way of receiving that content not to be passive.
