A socialist society creates favourable material and social conditions for the development of cultural life and the formation of the individual from the aesthetic point of view, too. In socialist pedagogy aesthetic education has always been considered a significant and essential component of communist education besides world-outlook, moral, political, work and physical components. Its aim is to develop aesthetic perception, comprehension, enjoyment and appreciation, to teach the fundamentals of national and world culture, to develop aesthetic activity and creativeness, and above all, to shape the personality ideologically, politically and morally by aesthetic means. Thus comprehensively convived aesthetic education is of great importance for the development of senses, speech and imagination, for the development of emotions, will and creativeness, and last but not least, for the development of knowledge and the ideological and political profile of the individual.
Conditions in a developed socialist society make it imperative for pedagogical theory to bring a new conception of a comprehensive model of lifelong permanent aesthetic education, in close relation with all the other components of communist education. Provision of this education must be shared by schools of all grades, cultural institutions, social organizations, establishments as well as by the family, all them working in unity. The decisive, however, is the introduction of theoretical schemes of aesthetic education into everyday practice of schools and other establishments and organizations. From this viewpoint it is necessary to activate the controlling bodies of the educational system, to create a favourable climate for aesthetic education and to prepare the large community of teachers and educators ever more profoundly for this task.
