The authors propose a new theoretical conception of the didactics of physics as a borderline scientific discipline between physics and pedagogy. Its object is considered to be the didactic communication of physics understood as transference of the results and methods of scientific knowledge in physics from the field of theory and research to individual and social consciousness. The objective of this socially conditioned process which can be deliberately influenced is the social use of and simultaneously also the development of physics as a science. The starting point is knowledge in physics, whose communication by means of teaching and learning in their various aspects and phases, at all stages of the lifelong educational system is an aggregate understood as being system-based, which allows meaningful derivation of partial problems and contexts. The basic problems of the didactics of physics are considered to be the following: the scientific and didactic systems of physics in their mutual relationship; the teaching of physics project and its material media; the teaching of physics process as a contentconditioned inter-action between teachers and learners; the results of the teaching of physics and ways of approach to their evaluation; education in physics (as the state achieved by teaching and learning) and its individual and social uses; education of the teachers of physics; methodological and historical questions.
