(EN) The Comintern's and the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia's Educational Policy between the Two World Wars

The Communist International and its sections were already waging a struggle for progressive reforms aimed at improving the condition of workers while there was still the capitalist system. Numerous programme documents of the Comintern and the Communist Parties also formulated demands for education being democratized. A qualitatively new stage of the Communist International’s activities began in 1922 when an educational commission was set up with the aim of directing this sphere on an international scale. The Communist International of the Youth, though organizationally independent, worked under the leadership of an international scale.
The Communist International, recognizing its programme and tactics. Among its niembers the Communist International of the Youth carried on communist propaganda corresponding to the children’s age and level of development, inculcating Marxist ideas in them and fostering their activity.
The realization of the Comintern’s educational policy on an international scale was also undertaken by the Marxistically orientated Educationists’ International established in 1924 in the presence of the All-Russia Union of Workers in Education and Socialist Culture and a representativeof the Czechoslovak Teachers’Community.
Within the framework of the United Front tactics the Czechoslovak Communist teachers had a decisive share in the foundation of the Socialist Teacher Association, supported the establishment and the activities of the School of Higher Pedagogical studies and waged a campaign for the establishment of an all-in school making use of the results of the Soviet pedagogical science and the experience of the Soviet school.
