In preparing apprentices for occupations technical training predominates. It gives them technical skills and working habits necessary for a particular job. At the same time technical training instils ito the apprentices' minds communist sonsciousness and a communist attitude to work and social ownership. This subject creates suitable conditions for moral education and character training of the apprentices. Under the organisation of technical training prevailing In most factories and firms before 1945 each apprentice acquired technical skills Individually under the guidance of expert workers. Later on some Industrial undertakings began, to Introduce the training of apprentices in groups. Besides these two basic forms of technical training, 1. e. individual and collective training, there gradually appear other forms.
The new forms of »technical training arise spontaneously: they are not yet properly classified uniformly named. Nor Is It clear, for the time being, when and under what conditions Individual technical training is useful, and when and under what conditions collective training ought to be followed by Individual training. So far the re sults achieved by various forms of technical training have not been evaluated. Neither have the factors been reliably found which must be taken into account in each trade when choosing the forni of technical training. No analysis has been made of the effect of these factors In various stages of the apprenticeship period.
With regard to this situation the Institute of Technical Education Is preparing an inquiry into the basic problems concerning the organisation of technical training. The main questions to be solved a r e : 1. the definition of term s to describe various forms of technical training, 2. the appraisal of results achieved by various forms of technical training, 3. when and' under what conditions Individual technical training is useful.
In the school year 1961/62 research will be organised at some selected undertakings in order to see If the methods of the research are correct. Only after the correctness of these methods being checked research will be carried out In all branches of our national economy on such a scale as to furnish us with sufficient data for the solution of questions inquired into.
