The principle of appropriateness pervades all educational work. Pedagogical literature deals with it in the most varied contexts. Nevertheless its function and content are not clearly defined. The aim of this study is to make a contribution to the theoretical analysis of the principle of appropriateness and show its practical application. The article concentrates mainly on questions of appropriateness in didactics, connections with the theory of education being merely implied.
The study analyse In the first place the probleims of appropriateness of the aim and content of the educational work, then the approprieteness of methods, and the part played by individual peculiarities of pupils in the teaching process. The last part deals with the implementation of the principle of appropriateness in the teaching process.
