Key words: reading predictors, pre-literacy skills, specific language impairment (SLI), family risk of dyslexia, family literacy environment, Slovák language.
The páper presents an analysis of the early pre-literacyskills of Slovak speaking children of preschool age (from five to sixyears of age), with different language profiles, and a comparison of the developmental patterns in groups of children with typical development of language skills, with developmental dysphasia, and with a family risk of dysphasia with or without speech disorders. The study investigates in detail the development of key skills for the progress of reading - knowledge of letters, phonematic awareness, fast auto-matic naming and early reading of words. The results show the negative effect of developmental dysphasia and family risk of dyslexia on the development of pre-literacy skills.
