The results of two experiments carried out with 24 pupils of Special Schools (mostly oligophrenic children) and, for the sake of comparison, with 24 pupils of the Uniform School have shown that the oligophrenic children’s differentiation ability does not rise between the age of 9 and 11 as with normal children, but remains permanently below the level of the Elementary School pupils. A comparison between the attainments of the members of the two groups subjected to the experiment bears witness to the inadequacy of the present-day methods used in selecting the pupils for Special Schools.
