This article deals with the following question: to what extent could the efficiency of the teaching process also be raised by using some non-traditional sources highlighted by present-day advances in science and technology. What is meant here above all is the new knowledge about modelling the live teacher’s work and leaving some of the components of the teacher’s work to the teaching machines and technology, then the modern knowledge concerning the facilitation of human learning process, and finally the knowledge about the uses of computer technology and society’s general information networks for the purpose of training and educating people. In conclusion it is pointed out that the use of the abovementioned non-traditional sources, if applied inexpertly, might bring about some negative social and human consequences, too, and it is emphasised that scientists are morally responsible for any innovation introduced in the field of education.
