(EN) On the Present Day State and the Main Trends in The Development of Adult Education in Czechoslovakia

The article deals with the themes, methods and results of research work in the field of adult education in Czechoslovakia. It also points out the main trends of research in the field of adult education for the next few years (until 1980). The foremost task in this period will be to investigate the problems of adult education in the stage of developed socialist society and the beginning scientific and technological revolution. This calls for an analysis of the influence of the current as well as future social and scientific-technological requirements on the aims, means, methods and conditions of adult education. Scientific work must also be focussed on the research into questions of self-education and self-teaching of adults as well as on the problem of training the teachers of adults and on raising the qualifications of these teachers. An essential pre-requisite for further development of adult education is a deeper elaboration of general theoretical and methodological questions on the basis of Marxist-Leninist principles. The elaboration of these questions helps to create a theoretical system of adult education. In conclusion, the author points out the necessity of interdisciplinary approach to the research into adult education as well as the significance of international scientific co-operation, especially within the framework of the countries belonging to the Council of Mutual Economic Assistance.
