Ten gifted pupils selected on the basis of numerous tests measuring intellectual capabilities and a control group of 20 children were subjected to various personality and performance tests. The hypothesis was confirmed that gifted and nongifted children differ not only with respect to intellectual structure but also in personality profile. It was found that the intellectual capacity of gifted children can be characterized by such factors as strict logic in language, richness of verbalization, high degree of creativity, dislike of convergent thinking. Prominent personality factors of these children are cognitive uncertainty, social anxiety, fear of failure and others. The controls are characterized by a lower level in verbal ability, deficiency in structured thinking, overall fear, low extraversion.
