Didactic technique means technical equipment used in the educational process. It is used together with the programme which is put in it and this programme is realizable only through its intermediary. The level of the didactic technique depends on the technical progress which determines the degree of perfection as to the demonstration and the performance of what is to be demonstrated and shown. It also depends on the simplicity of manipulation, on the funds that can be spent on it, and finally on the level of programmes put in it. Audiophonic didactic technique means communication systems such as earphone sets and language laboratories. The audiophonic didactic technique enables all the pupils to work individually and simultaneously, which hitherto has no been possible without it unless learning took the form of writing. It helps to make the best of the teaching period. Moreover, the earphones, which isolate the pupil to a great extent from the environment of the class, help to increase the pupil’s concentration and attention. The audiophonic technique makes it possible for the programme put in it to be compiled in such a way as to inform the pupil about the quality of his attainment in carrying out oral assignments and it gives him a chance to correct his mistake immediately. All this makes the use of audiophonic technique in learning very important. At the same time, however, the use of the audiophonic technique gives rise to a number of problems, such as the changing role of the teacher, the manner of compiling the programmes, the introduction of the audiophonic technique into the learning process; it will be possible to solve these problems only in connection with a widespread application of the audiophonic technique in learning both in and out of school.
