In connection with the paper on further development of the Czechoslovak education system, which gives concrete form to the policy programme of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia outlined by its 15th Congress, a system of further education of educationists is being worked out in Czechoslovakia. This system of further education is part of a lifelong, phased teacher education. The system of further education of educationists proceeds from the fact that the tasks as well as socially professional characteristics of educationists are developing and changing in the course of their lifelong professional career. Further education of teachers is therefore conceived in such a way as to be in keeping with the dynamic of changes in science, technology, culture and education itself, as well as with the specific features of the individual phases of the educationist’s professional career. One of the basic problems of the proposed system of further education of teachers is its efficiency. In this connection further education will become one of the effective media in directing education. Further education is to result in innovations in the educational system altering in this sense, in keeping with the intentions of the Party and State organs, the educational work of each educationist. This is the end to which the theoretical and conceptual handling of the teacher education system as a whole, which is an organic part of the overall system of education in Czechoslovakia, is being directed.
