Annotation:
The study deals with the ways of modernizing instruction by means of information imparted by a film. It gives reasons for the advantage of film communication in natural sciences and the need for working out special methods of communication for social sciences. The amount of information which can be imparted within a teaching period in relation to the length of the film, the quality of the information received depends on the amount of information in the picture and on the manner of its visualization and interpretation. By observing the maximal and minimal amount and quality of the information received, it is possible to draw the conclusion by means of a logical analysis of the results that even the not-so-bright pupils attain better results when film is used. In case of an unsuitable visualization of the film it is more expedient to repeat only parts of the film or to present the film by parts. The same film can be used at various stages of instruction. This requires concentration of the content of the film, restriction of secondary details and taking into account the age and experience of the spectator. This goes especially for the use of popular scientific films at school or for educational films used in adult education.
