(EN) Development of Apprentice Training Organisation after 1945

Apprentice training in Czechoslovakia has gone through considerable quantitative and especially qualitative changes in the last twenty years. Throughout its development an endeavour has clearly been felt aiming at establishing a socialist system of apprentice training, which would be able to meet the requirements of the national economy as to the training of skilled workers. Care has been given to create establishments for the training of apprentices, where specialist technical training, instruction in theoretical subjects and out-of-school education could be centrally controlled and co-ordinated. Apprentice training centres and apprentice schools, established on the basis of the Apprentice Training Act of 1958, have proved to be working well on the whole. Since 1958 apprentice training in all branches of the national economy has been centrally controlled. A comprehensive system of trades has been formed for which apprentice training is provide and this system is being gradually improved on. Great attention has been given to defining the subject-matter of the education of apprentices, determining correct proportions between vocational training and general education, curriculum-making and working out teaching plans, providing for a uniform educational influence on the apprentices in all the components of the educational process and removing the shortcomings in training facilities and the teaching personnel.
