(EN) Analysis of intergenerational relations in contemporary family

Příspěvek analyzuje vzájemné vztahy mezi generacemi v rodině. Snaží se dokázat, že diskontinuita mezigeneračních přenosů není „generační mezerou“, tak jak bývá mnohdy v literatuře uváděno. V souvislosti se současným vývojem naší společnosti jsou v závěru predikovány i možné změny v mezigeneračních vztazích v rodině.

The contribution “Analysis of Intergenerational Relations in Contemporary Family” deals with the theme of relations between parents and children. Based on the literature and the results of sociological researches it tries to demonstrate inaccuracy of the theory of “generational gap”. It supports that tensions in family are most probably the product of total social context. Especially the position of so-called “middle or parent” generation is very difficult in connection with the present development of Czechoslovak society. This generation is forced to seek a satisfying place and “self-realization” in a changing society and to overcome the feeling of “being lost”, all with knowing that at the same time their children and aging parents expect help from them. New socioeconomic and political situation in Czechoslovak society undoubtedly will bring about changes in intergenerational relations within the family. The tensions in families will emerge especially in connection with our transition to a market economy. The contribution tries to show the list of basic problems, which will very probably appear in relations between generations in a near future.
