The goal of the contribution is to provoke the discussion about teacher training. The contribution states (in condensed form) several groups of teacher training problems. The state of teacher training after 1989, the teachers’ activities aimed at the renewal of the institutional network and at the preparation of proper programmes are briefly characterised. The need for theoretical background of the mentioned educational areas as well as the need for the scientific use of the data for the reasons of creating the concept is emphasised. At the same time it is emphasised that teacher training is an important part of school transformation. The problems the discussion should be focused on are summed up in the conclusion („Political and Social Changes and the New Trends of Teacher Training“).
