The study deals with the most numerous excursion of Czechoslovak teachers to the Soviet Union in the time between the two wars, and its influence on the teachers’ public.
The excursion of 86 members contributed to the development of educational relations and furthered the getting-toknow the Soviet society. The whole process of getting acquinted with the Soviet school and education was complicated as the ruling class of the bourgeosie led frequent anti-Soviet campaignes. The teachers who visited the Soviet Union in the year 1936 exploited their achieved experience in their educational work. They were especially teachers from experimental reform schools who verified the progressive methods of the Soviet school in their teaching. It was the merit of the Comunist teachers that the idea of the united Working school was developed, in spite of the fact that the bourgeois school refused its putting into practice. For our conditions a strong movement struggling for a just and democratic school was formed. The movement was led by Karel Hanuš, Ladislav Hanuš and Oldřich Blažek, who had merits in the propagation of the Soviet school and education among a wide teachers’ public.
This most numerous teacher’s excursion in the year 1936 contributed to a deep getting-to-know of the Soviet school. The teachers got acquinted with it and its educational work, at conferences, seminars, and open meetings. The participants of the excursion passed truthful information about the Soviet society; this society then supported progressive forces of the Czechoslovak people in the struggle against facism and the war, and at the same time the progressive forces contributed to create a broad democratic front prepared for the defence of the Republic.
