(EN) Optimizing the Educational Process in Higher Education - the Crucial Role of Scientific Control

This contribution is aimed at the problems connected with the efforts to optimize the educational process in universities and other establishments of higher education by means of scientific control conceived and realized in a comprehensive manner. For the optimizing process to be successful it is necessary to investigate, in the first place, the influence of individual basic factors on the standard of teaching and students’ individual work in higher education and in accordance with the degree of their effectiveness optimizing administrative decisions or regulating measures should be taken on the part of the responsible subjects of control. As a result of an extensive questionnairebased research (2 224 respondents — students) the author specified 3 groups of these factors which, from the viewpoint of success in higher education, are, together with admission procedures (criticised by the author) of primary importance.
What comes first and foremost is the effort to modernize and optimize the content of education. Greatest attention is paid to this effort in this article. In his research the author aimed to find out how difficult the present-day content of education is for students and whether in can be mastered by them within the set time limits. Statistical results of this research are presented in tables and graphs. In conclusion of the contribution some recommendations are made for practical use.
