With regard to the specific features characterizing the connection of the Scientific and Technological Revolution with the advantages of a Socialist society the demand for deepening the mutual interlinks of family and other social institutions in the social formation of the youth is being raised with an ever increasing intensity. This tendency results from the Socialist society’s efforts at the present stage of its development to be purposeful and systematic in solving the non-antagonistic social contradiction which has arisen between the socio-professional orientation of the youth and the current social needs of reproducing manpower in ili- required educational, occupational and proicssional structure. The disruption of the original unity of professionalization and socialization of the children and the youth in the family has advanced to such an extent that the family’s contribution to the formation of the professional self-determination of the youth consists mainly in stimulating the social orientation, in encouraging hobby and educational activities in the leisure time. Specialist, material and technical provision for adequate professionalization of the youth and its vocational orientation presupposes the co-operation of school, social organization and especially industrial establishments. It is alarming, however, that changes in the family’s way of life resulting from objective factors (urbanization) are subjectively enhanced by parents as a result of their underestimating the negative consequences of relieving their children of household chores and duties for the development of personality traits, moral and volitional qualities necessary for any kind of work and occupation and for a harmonious development of married life and family life. In forming a positive partnership-parenthood orientation in the family an ever greater role is played by work instruction at school and by hobby activities in social organizations. The traditional role of the family in the social formation of the youth is undergoing a qualitative change.
