This article contains an analysis of the topical questions of law education. The author proceeds from a programme thesis stating that law education can be effective only as an organic element of the system of communist education.
Law education is understood as the extension and deepening of legal knowledge, skills and habits, formation of respect for law, development of the need for consistently observing the law, socialist legal convictions, formation of a high socio-legal activity in the struggle against criminal activities. The points referred to as very important aspects of law propaganda include the explanation of the political meaning of law, of moral aspects of the norms of socialist law, of the citizens’ rights and duties, as well as a correct appraisal of the legal regulation of work in the present period of time. It is pointed out that the working out of the goals, tasks, forms and methods of law education is not comprehensive enough, which has a negative impact on the extent and quality of the actual law training.
Law education is a constituent part of communist education and is governed by all laws. The specific features of law education consist in the object of training and the means of influence as well as in the mechanism of the union with the political, moral and working education and even aesthetic education and the like. The author underlines the fact that the process of law education is a long-term and law-governed process, conditioned by the influence of numerous factors. The main factor is the educator’s personality. He deals with the question of type programmes of law education the main purpose of which is to make respect for law become a component of the personal conviction of each of the collective, and to get the collective to influence its members in such a way as to make them behave in accordance with legal norms.
