Amerling’s "Draft Plan for the National School“ in 1848 laid down our first educational programme. Exactly in line with the development of our petty bourgeoisie, as well as on the basis of Comenius’ encyclopedia of youth education.
Simultaneously with Amerling’s ’’Draft“ Ján Kollár published his "Expert Opinion Slovak Education“ for Slovak schools in 1849.
Those taking part in the revolutionary solution of education policy were the following: P. J. Šafařík about the right of the national language in Czech schools, J. E. Vocel about the adjustment of the educational system to the needs of the national economy, F. Čupa about the reorganization of all stages of our education according to Herbart’s principle, and finally J. E. Purkyně about the establishment of science- oriented schools from nursery schools to Academies in the spirit of Comenius’ Omniscience.
The principle of the people’s general education contained in these draft plans did not remain in the area of mere formal pedagogy. For in those times socialistically minded writers such as Karel Sabina were directly interested in the masses not being curtailed in the beginnings of their education.
In the post-Worid-War I discussion about the reorganization of the republican school, no new basic was found for substantial changes in the internal life of our national school system.
"Free School“ slogans dating to the period to the period of culminating capitalism negated the principle of general education of the youth.
The struggle of progressive traditions with utilitarianism.
