(EN) Pedagogical Views of Ladislav Szántó adn his Work as a Teacher

In his study the author deals with the life, teaching activities and pedagogical views of Academician Ladislav Szántó. Ladislav Szántó worked as a teacher in the 1920’s. He had a thorough knowledge of Marxist-Leninist philosophy, and from this viewpoint he analysed the contemporary school and pedagogical problems. In his numerous articles and studies he discussed, above all, questions of ideological and political education, pedagogical and psychological questions. His ideas represent the progressive line in pedagogical history in Slovakia, are characterized by an unswerving dialectical-materialistic approach, which enabled him to make correct assessment of pedagogical problems. The work and pedagogical views of Ladislav Szántó made a significant contribution to enriching the pedagogical thinking in our country in the period of the pre-Munich Czechoslovak Republic and after the liberation.
